It’s almost time for one of our favorite holidays — Halloween! This year, we’re dressing up as busy, frenzied web designers. BOO! It’s a good look for us, no? But, if we actually did have time to dress up this year, we both think this martini costume would be at the top of our list. What are you going to dress up as this year?
Last year around this time, we shared some links for pumpkin carving patterns, so this year, we thought we’d share our Autumn Toddy recipes that warms your soul as well as your gut.
AUTUMN MOXIE TODDY
First, we have to start with a mulled spiced cider, which you can buy, but it always tastes better when you make it yourself. Plus, your whole house smells scrumptious!
To make the spiced cider:
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 dash salt
- 2 quarts apple cider
- 1 teaspoon whole allspice
- 1 teaspoon whole cloves
- 1 three-inch stick cinnamon
- 1 dash nutmeg
- 1 good squeeze of half a lemon
Brew this up in big batches so that you have some without liquor for your party-goers who are designated drivers or who don’t drink alcohol.
To make the Toddies:
- roughly 6oz. mulled, spiced cider
- 1.5 oz. of Tuaca, Italian liqueur
- Redi-Whip whipped cream, to taste
- Pumpkin pie spice, to garnish
Add the Tuaca to a mug or pretty glass that can handle warm liquid. Fill to the top with hot cider and top with a bit of whipped cream. Give a good shake of pumpkin pie spice on top, toss in a cinnamon stick as a “stir” and serve ‘em up!
Your guests will feel warm n’ fuzzy in no time! Give them a few and then make them bob for apples. You’ll want the camera for that….
Happy Halloween from the Moxie Girls to you and yours!
