Patricia came to Moxie for a redesign of her existing mother-in-law gripe site, MotherinLawHell.com. She was looking for a bold design that was feminine, using fun, vivid colors… especially hot pink and orange. Patricia mentioned liking our color palette here at Moxie, so we went with something in a similar vein. After some discussion we decided Patricia would commission an illustrator to help bring her Mother-in-Law character to life with a frantic bride and groom in her grasp. We placed the illustration swooping in over a fantasy “Hell” complete with pink flames!
We upgraded the user to Wordpress 2.7, including all upgradable plugins. We used none of the existing markup, but worked with Wordpress’ built in functionality and third-party plugins. User testing and feedback required us to make some moderate adjustments to layout and functionality, as well as further customization of her control panel and stand-alone submission forms. We restructured the categories, trimmed out what site visitors weren’t using and created premium placement for advertising on all pages.

When I was looking for a blog design firm to redesign my existing blog, I came across Moxie Design Studios and immediately knew this was the team I wanted for my project. Their portfolio screamed funky fresh and that’s exactly what I was looking for. I provided Joelle with a basic concept and feel I was going for and what I felt my existing design was lacking. Let’s just say that she took the idea and ran a 25k marathon with it! My god. She delivered my dream website, and I am not exaggerating in the least bit. The layout is clean and well organized, the colors POP from the page, the site is just fun to look at. Joelle was so responsive throughout the project and made little tweaks as needed along the way.
