Working with Kristina was a really great time. She was open to color and wanted a character that reflected her and her interests. This was a redesign of an existing site using Expression Engine, so her site could have a bit more flexibility and grow with her success as an author.
Kristina’s character is a stock image from 9Lives Illustration, manipulated by us to create just the look she wanted. Other separate stock elements and created graphics were used to set the tone for Kristina’s writing environment. She wanted lots of pink, but too much pink and wanted it to feel contemporary and hip, not too frou- frou. We used fun elements like the retro clock and cute swirly-steamed coffee in fun colors of olive and wine. Adding in unexpected colors to a popular ‘tween’-type palette of pink and aqua, helps make it current and appropriate for a fun, young-at-heart adult.
Her site contains a book club, author bio area, contact form, an area to showcase her writing and a customized Amazon astore.
After four years of blogging, I decided it was time to get serious about promoting my writing — which meant I needed a professional, put-together look. I wasn’t entirely sure what I wanted for my new website, but I knew who I wanted to design it — Joelle Reeder. I have admired the quality work of Moxie Design Studios for several years and I knew if anyone could take my vague ideas and give me the look I wanted for my site, it would be Joelle. She worked with me to create exactly what I wanted in a website — something fun, friendly and feminine — and pink! It was a pleasure working with Joelle and I will never go anywhere else for my web design needs.
