In early 2004, I designed the original website for Cheesetique. A lot has happened in five years, for us and for Jill Erber, our client, cheeselady and proprietor of Cheesetique Specialty Cheese Shop in Alexandria, VA. So, I was thrilled when she dropped me an email looking to redesign. In the last 4 years, Jill’s business grew and she moved into a larger location and added “cheese & wine bar” to her business.
Cheesetique’s shop has a kind of tongue-in-cheek approach to the stuffy cheese and wine concept, using a buxom cheese-slinging beauty as it’s mascot. Jill wanted the website to reflect the warm, eclectic interior of the store. Warm yellow walls, deep furniture and black accents. I wanted to bring in lots of different textures to give it interest and depth, while Jill was sure her beautiful white marble cheese bar needed to be represented. Using other elements from photos the client provided, we brought in actual bits of Cheesetique to Jill’s new website.
The site was built dynamically and fairly straightfowardly using various custom fields and multiple weblogs on Expression Engine.
I never thought I could love anything more than my hubbie and my daughter. My new website has challenged that belief. I LOVE IT! I LOVE IT! I LOVE IT!
Joelle was amazing to work with. I never felt like I was bugging her with requests - she was always cool and pleasant. Her creativity is astounding - I’m still surprised at how she was able to completely capture the feel of my business from across the country. Yeah Moxie!
