CanIgetaballparkestimate?

  • Personal and Professional Blogs – $2500 and up
  • Small Business Websites – $3500 and up
  • Community and Magazine-Style Websites  – $7000 and up

Maintenance, site updates, smaller tech and design requests are usually billed hourly. Contact us for more details.

Each website is unique.  What may seem like “just a blog” can be much more involved than one might think.  You may use this pricing guide as a starting point, but additions of forums, forms, membership profiles, extra pages, event calendars, podcasts, directories and a multitude of other options creates a bigger project and thus, more work and consultation.

Small business websites, while they may include a blog, are definitely more involved.  Community and magazine-style websites, that involve forums, member profiles, social media interfaces and more… you can expect those to be more elaborate projects and require even more expertise. Rarely is a project “just a blog”. Please keep this in mind when estimating your budget for your project.

Also check out “How much does a web design cost?” in our FAQ for more information about pricing.

Please fill out the Request for Proposal (RFP) form as thoroughly as possible, checking off the add-ons you’d like and filling in the comment area with the details of your project.  We will contact you with any questions we may have and set up a time to discuss your project further on the phone before preparing your detailed proposal. We appreciate serious inquiries only, please.

We do have phone numbers listed on our contact page, but due to the nature of our business and the focus required to do our jobs, we prefer to set up phone meetings by appointment only.  You are welcome to call during business hours, but you will most likely receive our voicemail unless it indicates on our contact page that we are available for open calls.  Please leave a message with your name, phone number, email address and a brief overview on your project and we will do our best to return your call by the next business day.

Please remember that we do work from home, so if you call at 11pm on a Saturday night, you’ll not only get our voicemail, but potentially cranky designers, as well.  Unless it is truly an emergency (in which case, leave a detailed voicemail and we will get back to you as soon as possible), we would appreciate your respect of our weekends and personal time.  Drop us an email and we’ll look into your issue on the next business day.

Mysister’shairdresser’scousin’sgoldfishjustdied.CanIhavemydepositback?

Well, that’s a bummer.  But, unfortunately, the answer is no.

As independent business owners of a very small 2-woman firm, we rely on timely payments from our clients to ensure our livelihood and the livelihood of those we contract with.  Once your deposit and/or engagement agreement has been received, your project is accepted in good faith and other projects are often turned away.

No refunds are permitted under any circumstances.  Your deposit is a retainer of our time, secures your position in our schedule and covers the costs preliminary consultation and expertise.  If you change your mind, that is unfortunate, but again, no refunds are permitted. Ever.

Your project launching in a timely manner is how we keep our business moving forward.  We are motivated and have a vested interest in keeping it cookin’.  We are counting on the remaining balance of your project and we take your word and our engagement agreement quite seriously.  If you choose to halt the project temporarily or otherwise place the project on hold for any length of time for any reason, a continuation fee will be accrued, per your engagement agreement, until the project resumes.  Please see more in your Project Proposal.

In other words, SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY, please.  If you’re not ready and you’re just looking to get an idea of what things might cost, that’s totally OK! But, please bear in mind that we work from a lengthy waiting list of eager beavers, so please don’t commit to a project if you’re not 100% certain you are motivated. Changing your mind mid-project throws a monkey wrench in the flow, so to speak.  So, please… and we say this with nothin’ but love, help us help you.

CanImanagemyownsiteafteryoufinish?

Absolutely!  In fact, that’s our main goal — easy to manage websites.  There are many content management tools available today that can enhance your site and provide an easy way to maintain updates, both to your blog and the website itself. We love Expression Engine, but we will ultimately choose the tool that suits the needs of your project, be it Expression Engine, Wordpress or something else entirely.  The point is, you’ll be large and in charge.

We would love to accept every request for assistance that comes our way… we’re helpful girls like that.  If our schedules permit, we’ll do our best to accommodate last-minute requests, but we are usually booked with new design projects and/or maintenance for our existing clients.  There are often talented and knowledgeable support staff provided by both your hosting provider and your content management/blog platform developers. They know their stuff and they work hard for the money. So hard for it, honey.

But, if you’re into DIY, your blog platform/content management system will usually provide documentation and community support forums on their websites.  You may find some resourceful links in our sidebar and we also recommend the talented programming services of Media Girl. They’re the cat’s pajamas.

So, let’s say you’ve always been your run-of-the-mill “Kwickie Kuts” sort of person. $10 haircuts. Walk-in service. Mediocre results. But, ready for a change, you decide to treat yourself. You book an appointment with a fabulous, affordable stylist just a few short weeks in advance and then…poof! You have The Amazing Technicolor Dream Cut! You’re hot! Thanks to this haircut, you’re a walking, talking torrent of hotness! Now, you get more action than you’ve had in months! Something tells us “Kwickie Kuts” is history and for that stylist? You’d wait a month or more.

While we’d love to take your project right this very minute, well… we’re busy, truth be told. But don’t worry, busy designers are a good sign!  We can usually work together to come up with a mutually agreeable timeline. In the meantime, pretend it’s the line outside Studio 54. Just, you know, without Bianca Jagger and the half-naked guys in gold spandex.

Depending on the availability of your designer, we can work with a modest budget. You might not be able to get everything on your website wishlist, but we can certainly try to work within your budgetary restrictions. If we cannot, we’ll tell you straight away. We’re not here to yank your charitable chain.

Howlongdoesittaketobuildawebsite?

This depends on the project. Each website is unique and may require more or less time to build. Factors such as how quickly you communicate with your designer about design decisions and how well you express your wishes can influence the final timeline. Building a site is an exact process, so once your design is finalized, the site still needs to be coded, implemented and tested. This process can take anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months depending on the size of the site and the availability of your designer.

Howmuchdoesawebsitecost?

Everyone has a different definition of “a simple website"or “just a blog”.  One person might assume a “simple website” includes 25 pages, poodles that jump through flaming hoops, a self-filling contact form and a gift certificate to Costco.  While another person might think a simple website is just a one-page deal.  It’s tricky for us to give you a ballpark without some indication of what your expectations are.

We don’t have a set-in-stone price list for several reasons. Your needs are not the same as the next guy, nor his the same as the nice lady before him. Everyone wants something a little bit different. The Moxie Girls™ being able to accommodate those needs is the reason you’re here.

If you provide us with important details about what you want from your website, such as what the site is for, how much content and what type, if you need a logo, etc., then we can provide you with a detailed estimate for your individual project… with pleasure!  Check out our FAQ on what to budget for your web project.  If you’re interested, just fill in that handy Request for Proposal (RFP) and you’re on your way.
