I know it’s Autumn and all but I am a little slow on getting into the whole “apple pumpkin spice cinnamon” phase I typically dive headfirst into when this season comes. Here in Georgia it’s chilly in the morning, the leaves started to change and that “school” smell is in the air all the time. Normally I’d be giddy with excitement but this year it hasn’t been such an overwhelming urge to pumpkin-ize my house. Either I need a tan or the election news is getting to me.
This is unacceptable! I usually love this time of year and I refuse to let it slip by leaving me waiting until next year to enjoy cinnamon clove cider smells. I decided to ease into it with some quasi-fall cocktails. Are you with me? Good. It’s not quite Hot Toddy weather yet and anyone who knows me is aware of my adoration of champagne. So here is a recipe for a fall-inspired champagne cocktail to get you in the mood. (And finally something I can use with that bottle of pear vodka I bought and never opened).
You Need:
1 part Grey Goose La Poire flavored vodka
1/4 part simple syrup
1/4 part lemon juice
Splash of orange juice
4 parts sparkling champagne
Orange peel for garnish
In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, add Grey Goose La Poire, simple syrup and lemon juice. Shake vigorously until the outside of the shaker is frosty looking. Strain into a chilled champagne flute and top with champagne. Garnish with orange peel or dash of cinnamon.
Cheers!
