I know everyone has been patient with me the last two weeks while I put the pieces of my life back together, and I appreciate it immensely. I just wanted to share some of my photo collection of the chaos that I’ve been through since I am sure the news stopped covering it the day after the storm and life went on around us. Plus with the number of hurricanes that tore through this region this year, everyone got real bored with it really quick. I wish I had that luxury, but living through yet another hurricane and compared to the two I went through last year, Wilma was the most debilitating and destructive of them all.
Aside from being powerless for 12 days straight, having to boil our water, and the sheer devastation everywhere, we lost two sections of roof, a car port, sustained heavy water damage, amongst a bunch of other financial arrangements that were in place prior to the storm. In total we have about upwards of $30,000 in damage, just to the physical property we own, and lost 2 weeks out of our lives and our work, which I can’t really put a number on. I am convinced that in addition to the hurricane, a small tornado ripped through my block. It tore a hurricane-strapped, concrete-poured carport off its hinges and threw it in the backyard. We’re talking a heavy roof here, no sissy carport.
There are a few more below for your viewing pleasure. Stop and view the wreckage!
